On ALIEN Day, April 26, Aliens will descent on The Outlets at Orange in Orange County, California. There, you up to three others, will be able to roam the creepy world of Aliens in tether-free VR experience. Make no mistake, though. This isn’t your typical VR experience. With ALIEN: DESCENT, it is free-roaming, which means you and your squad will be moving through the virtual world without the burden of PC backpacks or restriction of cables. The only things you’d be wearing will be special wireless VR headset and motion-tracking sensors on your arms and legs. Aliens is one of the pop culture phenomena of the 70s and it is a wonder why there isn’t an official Aliens-themed thrill ride. Perhaps, the theme is a little too dark for commercial success? I don’t know. Whatever it is, it does not stop YouTuber Hin Nya, who appears to be a huge fan of Aliens of Japanese descent, from creating one, but virtually, of course, using a steam game, a theme park simulator called Planet Coaster by Frontier Developments. There are countless number of insanely awesome LEGO builds and therefore, it is hard to say who is better. However, as far as amateur and the pop icon Aliens goes, artist Blair Archer could easily rank among the top, if not the best. No, seriously. This work of art here is beyond awesome. Just look at it. It is almost as if it was alive even though you know they are made out entirely from LEGO elements. On contrary to some sick minded Alien fans, the most iconic scene of Alien franchise is not the gruesome scene of tiny alien bursting out of someone’s guts, but it was the one where Ellen Ripley (played by Sigourney Weaver) took on the Queen Alien in an epic Power Loader versus acid-spewing, mouth-in-mouth space creature battle. And it was this scene which the “redesigned” kicks were based on and the sporting company announced not one, but two pairs of Alien sneakers, appropriately named Reebok Alien Stomper ‘Final Battle’ Double-Pack. Continue reading Reebok Announced New Alien-inspired Kicks Suitable For Both Sexes
Ridley Scott’s Aliens (20th Century Fox, 1979) was one of the movies that got me hooked to sci-fi and it is also one of the sci-fi movies that got me started in doodling crazy out-of-this-world stuff. Obviously, it was the weapons, equipment and vehicles that drew me to it, not so much of H.R. Giger’s alien design (though that was equally awesome). Having said that, nothing captured my imagination more than the UD-4L Cheyenne dropship and the M577 Armored Personnel Carrier – however impractical they were in space and on crazy alien terrains. If you don’t already know, April 26 (4/26) was the designated “Alien Day” and this day wasn’t choose by the virtue of the planet number LV-426 featured in the first two Aliens movies. “Alien Day” is certainly not as huge of thing as Back to the Future or Star Wars day, but it certainly has its fair share of following that’s enough for businesses to “to something about it.” We have saw Reebok releasing Ellen Ripley’s kicks as worn in the movie that caused quite a bit of furore and unbeknownst to us, there’s a release of the Aliens movie soundtrack on vinyl by Mondo. Continue reading Aliens Soundtrack Vinyl Record Is Filled With “Xenomorph Blood”
You must be a diehard fan and have serious obsession over Ellen Ripley (played by Sigourney Weaver) if you have noticed her hi-cut footwear she wore in the movie Aliens. We didn’t even look. But since may have, we have both good news and bad news for Ripley’s fans. First, the good news: Reebok had released a limited edition shoe wore by the character called Alien Stomper Hi on “Alien Day,” which happens to be on the April 26. As you may have imagined, they were all snapped up when it went on sale at noon – all 426 pairs of them. Why 426? Well, it was “Alien Day,” isn’t it? And 426, for the uninitiated, was the name of the planet (LV-426) in the first two flicks. Continue reading Sold Out Reebok Ellen Ripley’s Alien Stomper Hi Is Not Just For Men Only
we are not entirely sure if recreating the chilling Alien egg chamber scene from the sci-fi horror movie Aliens is exactly kids-friendly or even recommended, but for a grown man who grew up being shocked by Jaws and Aliens, it is definitely a collectible – regardless how much we were traumatized by Ridley Scott’s acid-drooling, jaw-shooting alien creatures. to be honest, if i were to acquire this, it will go straight into the display corner as trophy of sort. there is no way i am going to recreate the face-hugging scenario even though they are just action figures. it is just plain cruel. how can a man give birth to, well, ‘things’ (not that the ReAction Alien Egg Chamber Playset can do that). in any case, action figures will be sold separately and it is best to keep it that way. it may not have the ‘firepower’ of the Kuratas, but the Aliens Caterpillar P-5000 Power Loader Walker Replica you see here is the closest you can get to an exoskeleton suit that you can actually buy without wiping out your bank account clean. though, like the Kuratas’ weak and near-harmless firepower, it does not actually helps you to power load anything, much less fight off a disgusting, acid spitting queen alien. handmade by one Dustin Kiska (Props2Powerloaders), this life-size replica of the hydraulic power lifting machine featured in the 1986 sci-fi horror flick, Aliens is crafted from a combination of materials, including wood, styrofoam, cardboard et cetera, in Kiska’s in Albuquerque, New Mexico Continue reading Aliens Caterpillar P-5000 Power Loader Walker Replica
