These Guys Have a Bold Ambition: They Want to Make a Wearable Quadcopter with Camera for Your Wrist

a videography drone is nothing groundbreaking, but one that can be worn and deployed right off your wrist? that surely sounds like totally out-of-this-world, but that’s exactly what the team behind Nixie Flyable and Wearable Camera wants to do. this wrist-worn flying concept camera is part of Intel’s Make it Wearable (MIW) challenge, where entrants are challenged to push wearable technology to the next level and Nixie is among one of the finalists. Nixie is nothing short of a compelling idea and a very bold one too. with the frame wrapping the wrist, the Nixie could detach itself at a flick of a wrist, fly a few feet away and snaps a couple of stills or perhaps grab some video footages, before returning to your wrist. while super tiny flying gadgets designed to do such a thing is not new, they are not wearable as Nixie has proposed it would. HEXO+ 6 Rotors Multicopter Wants You To Dispense With Dedicated Cameraman

we don’t know how the heck did we let this product past our radar. anyways, as it turns out AirDog wasn’t the only follow-me action sports drone being peddled on Kickstarter. HEXO+ Autonomous Aerial Camera Drone was another which has just been successfully funded last week with a whopping $1.3 million in financial backing from over 2,300 backers. yet another prove that sportsmen are hell bent on dispensing with a cameraman. the development of drone is really a game-changer; it has promptly cannibalized the aerial helicopter rental and video camera support boom markets, and now with the autonomous drones, it only serves to solidify its position and in the process, eliminating the need for a dedicated camera altogether. Parrot Bebop Drone Wants You To Take Aerial Video Like A Pro

all this while Parrot has been referring its A.R.Drone as, well, drone, but is it really? we think not, at least not in our books. however, the new Parrot Bebop Drone might just be worthy of the drone namesake and not only that, it goes beyond the realm of toy by offering serious aerial videography – thanks to its onboard 14MP camera, equipped with a 180-degree FOV fisheye lens, which can pan and tilt while the drone hovers. behold, the era of personal aerial surveillance is upon us and before you know it, everyone is snooping on each other from the sky. the camera boasts 3-axis digital image-stabilization that maintains a smooth footage regardless of the drone’s movement and has an onboard storage of 8GB. also onboard is a 1,200 mAh lithium-ion battery with measly 12 minutes flight time per 2.5 hours charge, but thankfully, the battery is hot swappable so you can quickly switch to a fresh pack to continue your fun, albeit being slightly disrupted.
