Speed kills. Everyone knows that, but what most people don’t know is, speed could be accompanying the dead too – thanks to this Maserati Hearse custom by Italian hearse specialist, Ellena. While luxury hearse is not unheard of (Mercedes-Benz knows best!), this Maserati Ghibli-based funeral car is probably the first. As you can see, the front end looks exactly like a regular Ghibli, but anything beyond the A pillar is custom to ferry the dead to his/her final destination. The custom works include a ridiculously stretched wheelbase that bumps up the entire car length to an astounding 260 inches which ended with a hatchback rear end that’s obviously not Maserati’s. While Ferrari’s head honcho dismissed the idea of a Ferrari SUV, saying it would be “over his dead body,” Maserati is more open to the idea and on February 19, 2016, the Italian luxury car maker announced its first ever SUV in the company’s history, the Maserati Levante. Levante, which will be making its official appearance at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, is powered by both petrol and diesel engines that are all Euro6-compliant, paired to a drivetrain that includes an 8-speed automatic transmission specially calibrated for the new SUV and Maserati’s intelligent Q4 all-wheel drive system. The chassis is designed to provide “unrivalled handling on even very low-grip surfaces and at the same time, excels on off-road. love a good audio speaker and also have the love for Maserati? then we supposed the Bowers & Wilkins 805 Maserati Edition would appeal to you too. released in celebration of the partnership between Bowers & Wilkins and Maserati, the 805 Maserati Edition is based on B&W’s 805 Diamond and incorporates “elements of the luxurious interior of a Maserati car.” we must say it’s easy to see the relation: the bird’s eye maple real wood veneer and the black Maserati leather (both of which are the real-deal stuff as used in the Italian automaker’s rides) does indeed resonant that of a Maserati’s opulent car interior. delightful cabinet asides, the 805 Maserati Edition features several audiophile-grade technologies, including the Diamond Dome Tweeter, and promised to deliver a listening experience “synonymous with the culture and heritage of both brands.” to which we supposed only Maserati owners can relate to, but nevertheless, an opportunity for non-owner and Maserati’s enthusiasts to experience the same exquisite craftsmanship and audio reproduction that are synonymous with both brands. available in Autumn 2013. although details are scant, at least until its showing at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show later this month, the 2014 Maserati Ghibli Sports Executive Sedan is still as desirable as ever. call us superficial, but the fact remains that this car is an absolute beauty. the latest iteration of the Ghibli is destined to be first production car from the Italy luxury automaker’s stable to be fitted with a diesel unit – a 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged diesel, to be more specific. though no performance figures are indicated. from the scraps of what we know from the press release, this compression-ignition engine driven luxury sports sedan will be mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, driving either the rear wheels or the new ‘Q4’ all-wheel drive system. so, you could say the 2014 Ghibli is the smaller version of the Quattroporte.
the fact that the Italy firm chose to debut the new Ghibli at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show kind of indicates the automaker’s desire to woo the boundless Chinese market. hardly surprising. given that loads of millionaires are popping up in this growing economic power on daily basis, who wouldn’t want a share of the pie? and that’s probably how this new shiny ride will aid Maserati’s growth plan to push out 50,000 cars per year. as for more details, we shall wait and see, or you could head on down to Ghibli microsite and site for updates as it becomes available. in the mean time, clear the jump and treat your eyes with a trio of larger images and a little sample of how the Ghibli sounds like (hint: it’s music to our ears!).

need a luxe car that has the power and speed but just as practical for any other activities like grocery shopping or going out with your family? then you can look forward to the 2013 Maserati Quattroporte. though the Modena folks called it the all-new Maserati Quattroporte, we can see it still carries over much of the outgoing model’s elements such as the front grill, the three side fender vents, as well as the triangular C pillar. in short, non-enthusiasts would probably mistaken it for the current model and that doesn’t help with little official information to go around for now, except for some images to tease us before its official premier at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show (NAIAS).
