Maserati MCXtrema Track-only Supercar Hits The Track

I swear I did not know that Maserati MCXtrema existed until last month when it hit the track for a series of tests. I know it is a beautiful car but before you ga-ga over this exotic, supercar, you ought to know that all 62 units are probably already spoken for. MCXtrema is not only a non-road homologated race car, it is a radically exclusive club.

This beast looks nothing like any Maserati we have seen in recent years. Rightly so because it is the Trident marque’s boldest car yet, and an evolution of the Maserati MC20 super sports car.

Under the hood, this supercar has an upgraded version of the MC20’s 620 HP Nettune V6 engine, a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine producing 730 horsepower (740 CV) and 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) of torque. The motor is mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox. However, it is still unclear has quick and fast it could go. I supposed the track test would offer some firm numbers.

Anyhoo, it has a total dry weight of around 1,300 kilograms (2,866 pounds) resulting in an insane power-to-weight ratio of about 1.8 Kg/CV (1.78 kg/HP). Recently, this beast was unleashed into its natural environment: the track. Following this it will be put through its paces until late April. Maserati aims to first deliveries in late summer 2024.
