I’m not sure how we missed the Ninebot x Evangelion Limited Edition Dz 100P eMoped [CH] when it was launched earlier this year (January 09). But I guess it doesn’t matter because we wouldn’t be able to buy one anyway. After all, it is only available in China. As the product name suggests, Ninebot has given its latest electric two-wheeler, the Dz 100P, an Evangelion Unit-01 makeover.
This awesome collaboration with Studio Khara also saw the launch of a matching Evangelion Unit-01-themed full-face helmet (999 yuan or approximately US$138). The Dz 100P is finished in the classic colors of the EVA Unit 01, namely, the purple of the body armor with green accents and dashes of orange and red here and there.
Then there are other details like the silver bits with the three red circles found on the Unit-01 chest, and the labels found on the bio-mechanical machine, among others, that help bring the spirit of Evangelion to the Dz 100P. I thought the sharp lines of the electric scooter helped to bring out the Unit-01 vibe. Thankfully, this vibe is limited to the good old mechanical metal, plastic, and whatever worldly materials it uses, and nothing organic like giant biomechanical cyborgs.
The Evangelion theme is not limited to the eMoped. It extends to the entire experience, including a self-illuminating (presumably glow-in-the-dark) NFC card key in purple and green featuring the side silhouette of Unit 01. Moreover, the companion app for this limited-edition collab model has been spruced up with Evangelion-themed dynamic background graphics. Finally, the EVA Unit-01 Dz 100P purchase also comes with a metal ownership welcome plaque.
Beyond the Evangelion Unit-01 cosmetics, the Dz 100P is just like any regular Dz 100P. It is powered by a 400 W motor, paired with a 48V 30 Ah battery. It has a max speed of 25 km/h (15.5 mph) and up to an 85 km (52.8 miles) range. Ninebot said the lithium battery features automotive-grade cells and boasts BMS 6.0 smart battery management with over 30 battery protection technologies.
The eMOPED is built around an HC 420 alloy steel frame and further touts front and rear ABS, MAXXIS 12-inch sports tires, a rear light that “breathes” when the vehicle is at rest, and a large 7-inch 1,000 nits brightness RideyFun screen that not only displays the parameters of the eMOPED but also supports navigation, calls, music playback, and system OTA upgrades.
There are only 999 units of the Ninebot x Evangelion Limited Edition Dz 100P eMOPED available, with each vehicle bearing its unique edition number (X/999). The sale of the vehicle started on January 09, 2024, for 12,499 yuan [CH] (about US$1,726). It is not clear if it is still available at this point.
