The smartphone industry has seen little to no innovation since its popularization by Apple 12 years ago. Since the first full, colored touch display rolled into the market, things hasn’t change a whole. Sure, we have better display, under display fingerprint sensor, and better cameras, but really, as far as usability, smartphones remain largely the same. And I am perfectly fine with incremental innovations, but just don’t ask for crazy prices in exchange. Good news, diehard fans of BlackBerry, the revived BlackBerry mobile under TCL has finally revealed its second handset in Dubai. Called BlackBerry Motion, this new device offers a BlackBerry tradition-breaking full touchscreen experience and so, yeah, it has no keyboard. Disappointed? Well, wait till you see the specs… Anywho, like the KEYone, it is, of course, running on Android and in this instance, you are looking at Android 7.1. Specifications begin with a 5.5-inch FHD LCD display, followed by a Snapdragon 625 SoC to take care of the clockwork aided by 4 GB of RAM. It’s alive! Thanks to TCL, BlackBerry mobile is still kicking around and I am not going to lie, its BlackBerry KEYone Android-powered smartphone is looking pretty dope. First of, there’s no question about aesthetics. It is as good looking as a BlackBerry, but I guess the real draw here is Android. Then again, that’s no news. unlike the Apple TV, the Roku TV is really a TV and not just a little black box. billed as the new generation of Smart TVs, the Roku plans to grow it (the TV) by licensing the “new reference design platform and software stack to manufacturers to build and distribute Roku TV models.” just think of Roku as the Android of TV where the various makers will turn out Roku-powered TV, which will be collectively known as, well, Roku TV. the first of the Roku TVs will be offered by TCL and Hisense, and they were recently highlighted at Pepcom’s Digital Experience media event during the 2014 International CES. never mind the fact that 4K broadcast is still quite a distant away and the contents are limited, but when you have a 4K-capable TV costing under a grand you probably don’t mind future-proofing your home entertainment setup, don’t you? that’s what the Chinese TV maker TCL is offering with the TCL 50″ Edge LED 4K Ultra HD TV (7E504D) which has a sticker of just $999. man. this is totally unbelievable. a 4K TV for less than a grand? till now we are still in disbelieve. set to hit the stores this September, the 7E504D features edge-lit LED technology with 120Hz Clear Motion Index (CMI) engine and is designed to accept native 4K inputs such as from a PC or future 4K players.
