ask around and you will find that bicycle is the last thing that needed any real reinvention, less you are talking about electric bicycles but that’s another story which we are not quite as interested today. conceived by design studio, Scalyfish Designs, The Bicymple is just the bicycle that has been reinvented and in the process, defies the unspoken rule of ‘if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it’. we must admit we kind of like the new concept of how bicycle should be: without chain. yes, the design folks want to simplify things and therefore, the Bicymple does away with the traditional chain and sprocket combo, thereby cuts down the number of moving parts which in turn, reduced the overall complexity significantly. the pedal-powered two-wheeler now rides on direct-drive, freewheeling hub that joins the crank arm axis directly to the rear-wheel axis (think unicycle) and result is an extra short wheelbase bicycle that don’t requires the two wheels to be inline with each other to ride on and could easily be maneuver around in tight spaces. with the optional rear-steer mode, you could even do “crab-riding” with this ride too. cool idea. we will be honest with you: as said, we love the look but we are not quite comfortable with the idea of two disjointed wheels and getting it up to speed. check out a video of The Bicymple in action after the break.
