Remember the Godzilla Hammer? Well, turns out that wasn’t Castem’s first rodeo with heavy-hitting pop culture icons. In fact, the Japanese metal-crafting maestros had already flexed their casting skills last year with something just as jaw-dropping: a life-sized, stainless steel head sculpt of Megatron. And yes, we are on the time machine again, going a year back, but hey, if it is still valid, and cool, what is old news, right?

Made with the same precision and seriousness you’d expect from a company that makes parts for the aerospace and medical industries, this hulking noggin of the Decepticon leader is forged from real steel using lost-wax casting. It measures 34 cm tall, 26 cm wide, and 29 cm deep, and tips the scale at a ridiculous 14 kilograms (30.8 lbs). No, you shouldn’t wear it — unless you’re aiming for a neck injury and possibly a concussion.
This isn’t some painted resin figure either. The Megatron head is made entirely of stainless steel, giving it an intimidating sheen and an imposing physical presence. It’s like Castem took Megatron’s famous quote, “Peace through tyranny,” and turned it into an art form.
Castem released this magnificent metal menace on May 22, 2024, through its Rakuten store and in conjunction with the Transformers 40th Anniversary Exhibition in Osaka. It’s made to order, goes for 165,000 yen [JP] (around US$1,060), and takes up to six months to produce — because good things come to those who wait (and have strong shelves).
It’s an absurdly glorious tribute to the leader of the Decepticons. And even if the eyes don’t light up, the craftsmanship alone might just make you hear Megatron’s voice in your head going, “You fool!” every time someone walks into your display room.
