As the owner of the Trump Organization, President Donald Trump has many businesses under his name—from real estate to hospitality to investments. The company, now helmed by his sons while Daddy is in politics, has recently added cellular services and a mobile phone to its portfolio. You heard that right. The Trump Organization has taken a dip into the world of mobile communication.
Aptly called Trump Mobile, this new kid in the mobile communications industry offers a US$47.45-per-month plan that includes unlimited talk, text, and data. The plan even comes with 24/7 roadside assistance and a “Telehealth and Pharmacy Benefit.” How? I have no idea. Folks who call overseas often will be glad to know it includes free international calling to over 100 countries.
But Trump Mobile isn’t just about the cellular plan—it has hardware too. Alongside the service, Trump Mobile is offering a smartphone called the T1 Mobile. In the spirit of the POTUS’s unwavering dedication to all things gold—and also his “mission”—the T1 is presented in a gold-colored finish etched with, you guessed it, the American flag. Also in line with the man’s America First policy, Trump Mobile claims the phone is “proudly designed and built in the United States.”
It’s all believable… until you realize the phone is priced at a modest US$499. Hmmm… why do all these sound like the Escobar phone? Anyhoo, given the high manufacturing cost in the U.S., it’s hard to imagine the T1 is completely built in America and still bears such an affordable sticker. Some experts have expressed doubt.
But we’re not here for that. We’re here for the phone—which, oddly, doesn’t have a whole lot of detailed specs. There’s no info on the chip. What we do know: it has a 120 Hz 6.8-inch hole-punch AMOLED display, 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage (expandable via card slot), an in-display fingerprint sensor, and AI face unlock.
Camera-wise, it has a triple-camera setup around the back with a 50 MP main, a 2 MP depth sensor, and a 2 MP macro lens. On the front: a 16 MP selfie cam. Other notable bits include a 5,000 mAh battery with 20 W PD charging, a USB-C (USB 2.0) port, and—believe it or not—a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
The T1 Phone is set to launch in August for the aforementioned US$499. Pre-orders are open now, with a US$100 down payment required.
