For super fans of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws (1975, Universal Pictures), Universal Studios Hollywood has some delectable food for you to chow down on while visiting the park. When hunger strikes, you may hit up Mel’s Diner for a bite from a specially themed menu, which includes returning favorites such as the Shark Bait Burger, Lobster Roll, and Fish & Chicken Basket.
The Lobster Roll, meanwhile, is a lobster roll on a buttered roll with lettuce. It is served with fries and tartar sauce. As for the Shark Bait Burger, no, it is not shark meat. It’s an all-beef burger with pastrami, BBQ sauce, pickles, and cheddar cheese. It is served with fries. Finally, there’s the Fish & Chicken Basket, which features beer-battered cod and fried chicken tenders served with seasoned pub fries and a side of tartar sauce.
After all those have found a place in your tummy, it is time to fill up the dessert section of your gut, which you can perhaps fill up with the Lifesaver Swirl, a vanilla soft serve with strawberry sauce, whipped topping, and a sugar cookie that looks like a Lifesaver that has gotten chewed by a shark, or perhaps the Amity Island Funnel Cake. The Amity Island Funnel Cake is, well, a funnel cake topped with ice cream, strawberry and blueberry jam, and cinnamon streusel.
The menu is not limited to food. There are drinks, too, for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic folks. There’s the Shark Bite, which is an alcoholic drink featuring a cocktail of rum, Sprite, coconut water, and coconut syrup, with a grenadine and guava purée floater. Topped with a shark lollipop, of course. And then there’s the non-alcoholic option called Amity Island Open Water, which, unlike the beach, is perfectly safe. It features Sprite and blue curaçao syrup with, you guessed it, a shark lollipop. There’s also a Jaws Sipper, but to be honest, I have no idea what that is. Of course, there are other beverages, but the featured drinks are concoctions from the Mega Movie Summer Exclusive Offering menu.
Then who can forget about the merch? After polishing off the last of your desserts, you may adjourn to the Universal Studios Store and help yourself to the Jaws Loungefly Crossbody Bag. It sells for US$75 online, though it is currently sold out. It is not clear if it is still available at the Universal Studios Store, where it reportedly retails for US$80. The faux leather bag features a magnetic main compartment with an interior pocket, plus a removable and adjustable crossbody strap. Prefer carrying it like a handbag? It has a top handle for that, too. The bag is perfect for packing everything you need for a completely safe day at the beaches of Amity Island!
Obviously, the crossbody bag isn’t the only Jaws merch you can sink your teeth into. There is a bunch of apparel and accessories available for purchase, including T-shirts, shorts, sports bras, a hoodie, a beach towel, a mug, and more. Some of them are available from the Universal online store. But why would you do that? Why in the world would any superfan buy the merch without hitting the park? I mean, you have to get in the mood first, you know, by witnessing George get pulled under before experiencing the thrill of an “attack” by Bruce—the mayor of Amity’s worst nightmare.
