Stranger Things may be a sci-fi horror series wrapped in ’80s nostalgic adventure. But it is really more adventure than horror. After all, whatever happens on the TV stays on the TV—unless you are thrown into the middle of the terror. Well, that, my friends, is exactly what the Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights Stranger Things 5 will do: put you right in the center of the ultimate battle to save Hawkins.
Developed in partnership with Netflix, the all-new haunted house takes the fifth and final season of Stranger Things off the screen and turns it into a very physical reminder that watching Vecna from the sofa is infinitely preferable to having him breathe down your neck.
The nightmare begins in Hawkins, where the barrier separating reality from the supernatural is collapsing. Guests will pass through familiar locations, including the Wheeler House, Hawkins National Laboratory, and the MAC-Z military base, before venturing into the Upside Down and the Abyss. A normal sightseeing tour of Hawkins was evidently out of the question.
Along the way, visitors will encounter familiar characters and scenes from the final season while being hunted by Demogorgons and other supernatural nasties. Vecna will also be stalking the house, presumably still upset that nobody appreciates his interior decorating. Universal’s current description adds the Mind Flayer to the welcoming committee, so expect one last all-out battle rather than a peaceful stroll through small-town Indiana.
In other words, your mission is to help save Hawkins while trying not to scream, trip over your own feet, or sacrifice the person behind you as Demogorgon bait. Universal calls it an “authentic, visceral experience.” Your vocal cords may have another name for it.
Naturally, no journey into supernatural hell would be complete without souvenirs. An exclusive Stranger Things Halloween Horror Nights collection includes an ’80s-inspired T-shirt and mug, along with an acrylic figure designed to fit into the separately sold Infernal Carnival collectible display. More figures representing the 2026 haunted house lineup are planned, allowing fans to assemble one cohesive little carnival of nightmares at home.
The Stranger Things 5 haunted house opens at Universal Orlando Resort when Halloween Horror Nights begins on select nights from August 28 through November 1, 2026. Over at Universal Studios Hollywood, the terror runs on select nights from September 3 through November 1, 2026.
