The Volkswagen Polo has officially hit the big five-oh, and to mark the occasion, it’s getting a snazzy new outfit. Say hello to the Polo Edition 50, a special anniversary model that’s part nostalgia, part tech upgrade, and very much still fun-sized.

Built on the ‘Style’ trim, the Edition 50 adds a healthy dose of extras: 16-inch ‘Coventry’ alloy wheels (or optional 17-inch ‘Torosa’ wheels for the commitment-averse), dark-tinted rear windows, and discreet but proud ‘50’ badging on the B-pillars, dashboard, and steering wheel. Inside, it piles on the creature comforts—chrome-trimmed pedals and vents, ambient lighting, a black headliner, heated front sports seats, and a multifunction leather steering wheel. There’s also a generous helping of driver-assist tech, including Park Assist, Rear Traffic Alert, and a proactive occupant protection system.
Under the hood, buyers can choose between a 1.0-liter engine with 70 kW (95 PS or 127 hp) paired to a manual or seven-speed DSG transmission, or step up to a punchier 85 kW (116 PS or 155 hp) version with the same DSG gearbox. Optional upgrades include a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control with enhanced air filtering, and keyless entry with SAFELOCK.
Pre-sales in Germany kick off today, with prices starting at €28,200 [DE] (around US$30,500).
