I stumbled upon this product on Amazon when I was searching for an on-the-go charging solution for my Apple Watch Ultra because of a silly blunder. Anyhoo, I noticed that there are a myriad of portable chargers for Apple Watch, some with built-in power banks even but all of them have one thing in common: you end up with one more thing to bring.
The Watch Band with Wireless Charger for Apple Watch, on the other hand, makes the charging puck part of the watch band. At this point, I do not even need to tell you why this is cool. But if you need me to spell it out… well then… because the wireless charger is part of the watch band, you do not need to bring another charging thing with you when you are out and about.
The watch band has an aesthetic that is a cross between the Sport Loop and Trail Loop but with a magnetic wireless charging pad in between. This charging puck has an integrated USB-A charge adapter, allowing it to be plugged into a power bank, laptop, and whatnot to charge your Apple Watch.
The strap is adjustable, and it fits wrists size of 158-199 mm (6.2-7.8 inches). It is compatible with Apple Watch 9 through to 1, SE, as well as Ultra and Ultra 2.
This particular one that we found on Amazon is by a seller called Funotes which sells for US$26.99. We noted that our friends over at The Gadgeteer have found a similar product by a brand called PowerBand that sells for US$39.99. We also found it being sold on Aliexpress for US$16.03.
I know it is confusing. Just go to the platform you are most comfortable purchasing, and fits your budget, of course. But why the similarity? Who copy who? Well, it could be an OEM thing that any company can purchase to rebrand as their own. The same for Kuxiu 3-in-1 portable charger. A few brands are selling the same thing. I reached out to one of the brands, and it clarified that the 3-in-1 charger is indeed an OEM product. So if you don’t know, now you know.
