we love everything steampunk. we love it even more if the steampunk object in question combines cutting edge technology like this steampunk plasma speaker created by an artist simply known as ConsciousFlesh. instead of simply steam the punk out of ordinary object, ConsciousFlesh takes it up a notch by having a plasma arc speaker in the mix and as you can witness from the video after the break, it even has uber-cool steampunk MP3 player accompanying it. it just makes us go ‘woooo….’ and exclaims, we want one too!

oh, for the uninitiated, plasma speaker uses a small plasma discharge to create the acoustic waves instead of your regular mechanical diaphragm. the air is heated up by the high frequency discharge that causes it to swell, hence by varying the amount of power introduced to the discharge changes the rate of expansion and thus sound waves are created. another ‘woooo…’ to that. now for the golden question: why can i get one of this? unfortunately, no, money can’t buy you this lovely creation and the website is lacking of any contact information that will allow you to exert you persuasive power to convince the artist to sell you one. what a bummer, isn’t it?
