Yamaha Y-00B: Base/Bricolage Electric Bicycles

You know how some bicycles are just, well, bicycles? You buy it, you ride it, and that’s the end of the story. Yamaha Motor clearly didn’t get that memo. Enter the Y-00B: Base, a concept eBike that’s basically a blank canvas on two wheels.

Instead of locking you into one look, this slim and minimalist ride comes with a Dual Twin frame that hides a compact battery and drive unit so cleanly you’d think it was designed by ninjas. The point? You get to make it yours—stick a rack on it, slap some color, tweak the vibe. It’s less about “what you bought” and more about “what you built.”

Practicality isn’t left out either. The compact battery keeps your movements free, while a USB-PD converter lets you juice up your phone or gadgets on the go. Range anxiety is so last season.

Then there’s the Y-00B: Bricolage, which Yamaha cooked up as part of its 70th anniversary. This one riffs on the company’s very first product, the YA-1 motorcycle from 1955. Imagine a café racer vibe—low-slung, retro touches—but reimagined as a pedal-assist eBike with modern guts. It’s a mashup of past and future that looks like it just rolled out of a design lab where nostalgia got spiked with lithium-ion.

The two bikes share Yamaha’s focus on lightweight, compact design, and everyday usability while still inviting riders to turn them into personal statements. Whether or not the duo will see the light of production is unclear, but considering the Bricolage exist for the 70th anniversary… well, very likely. As to how much they will cost… words are not available now.
