For those not in the know, CUPRA Tavascan is not the Spanish automaker’s first EV; the CUPRA Born is. It was first released in 2019—5 years before the marque’s all-electric SUV. So what about it? Well, the first all-electric model from the brand now has a higher-performing model, dubbed CUPRA Born VZ.
The new CUPRA Born VZ boosts performance, delivering 326 PS and 545 Nm (402 lb-ft) of torque that afford the EV to rocket from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 5.6 seconds and reaching a top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h).
The VZ model further benefits from an improved braking feel, more robust suspension, and more responsive steering and pedal behavior. The new CUPRA Born VZ has an electric range of up to 372 miles (599 kilometers)—thanks to an improved battery pack that now offers 79 kWh.
The battery system can be recharged at home using an 11 kW AC system or at a DC 185 kW fast-charging point that would allow it to be charged from 10-80% in under 30 minutes.
Performance is not the only upgrade; the 2024 CUPRA Born VZ also boasts a sportier interior with new CUP Bucket seats constructed from sustainable natural flax fibers, regenerative paddle shifts on the steering wheel, and two new 20” alloy wheels.
On the inside, the new CUPRA Born VZ boasts a new Sennheiser high-fidelity 10-speaker audio sound system codeveloped with the German audio specialist, a new and larger floating 12.9” infotainment system with a new retro illuminated touch bar for climate and volume control, interior Smart Light technology, and more.
The 2024 CUPRA Born VZ will launch in Q3 2024.
