if designer Timon Sager has his way, future snowboarders would be riding the AvA 299 DROP helicopter to the peak for a thrilling snowboarding ride downhill. Timon’s concept helicopter is a purposed designed coaxial helicopter specifically to bring snowboarders to locations that are not accessible by your usual ski lifts.

the helicopter’s passenger cabin can be lowered just right for the snowboarders to leap out and carry on their thrill ride down. coaxial configuration has two counter rotating main rotors, canceling out any counter rotation hence no tail rotor is required. overall, the design looks to be pretty awesome, except that the two counter rotating rotors are a little too close for comfort. helicopter blades tend to experience ‘spring’ effect which can potentially result in the top set of rotor hitting the lower rotor. nevertheless, it is still looks pretty cool. er, but where’s the fuel tank and engine?
