if you are fan of automobile furniture, specifically furniture that are crafted out of real automobile, then you are in for a treat. Fiat has unveiled its “Fiat 500 Design Collection” at the last week’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile. conceived by the Italian marque’s boss Lapo Elkann and furniture Meritalia, this collection pays tribute to auto maker’s 1970s Fiat 500. the collection includes a sofa, a table and a console. just in case your guests aren’t aware what they are, each piece of furniture sports a plate that says: “Lapo and Meritia pay tribute to the Fiat 500”, albeit being a rather small name plate.

the first of the three furniture is the “Picnic” which is actually the two front end of the original Fiat 500 stuck together, back to back complete with a pair of actual wheels but shod with flexible black polyurethane materials. seriously, you can’t actually tell that they aren’t real tires unless you scrutinize them closely. a glass top is mounted over the two front ends supported by four crystal poles and crystal legs are added to further improve the stability of the table while not taking too much attention away from the front ends, which obviously is the ‘highlight’ of this piece of furniture.
the second in line is the “Panorama” which is a sofa crafted out of the original Fiat 500 front end, also complete with a pair of authentic front wheels. in place of the bonnet, is a padded seat with backrest. the padded seat cover are of either fabric or from leather. finally, there is the “Cin Cin” console. “Cin Cin” is similar to the “Picnic” except for two distinct difference: first, it has no wheels and second, the “Cin Cin” is available in three height options to suit different needs. lending a touch of “open air” vision of the original Fiat 500, all three furniture have been designed for outdoor use as well.
