the Marie Coquine chandelier is perhaps the most quirky lightings i have seen. at the first glance, i can’t decide if its an umbrella with lightings or a chandelier with an umbrella stuck to it. the chandelier looks as complicated as any other chandelier out there but what makes it stands out from the crowd is none other than the umbrella speared straight through its middle, complete with the ‘J’ umbrella handle in chestnut wood.
the Marie Coquine chandelier, created by design maestro Philippe Starck, is a variation of the Zenith 12 lights chandelier from Baccarat Crystal. it was showcased at the Salone in Milan as part of the Baccarat collection. the ivory umbrella as well as the pleated taffeta Zénith lampshades gives it a subtle and classy feel, not too mention the eye dazzling Baccarat crystals that adorned the twelve lightings.
after two paragraphs on this lighting, i got something to break to you. the Marie Coquine chandelier, is actually a floor lamp. yeah, it is a floor lamp in the form of a steel camera stand and a camel-colored, saddle-stitched leather punching bag counter-balancing the 12-light Zénith chandelier. the Marie Coquine chandelier has a numbered, limited edition run of just 120 units and is set to be available this July. however, no word on its pricing at this point.
