Folks. It looks like the age of I, Robot is happening sooner than anticipated. We talking about having your own Sonny as your high-tech domestic helper, doing things like doing the laundry and then folding the laundry, cleaning stuff, and whatnot. I know. It sounds a little out of this world but those are what the 1X NEO is designed to do.
Norwegian robotic company 1X revealed the NEO Beta Humanoid Robot for the Home. This bipedal robot with AI built-in is designed to perform chores around the house autonomously. NEO stands 5.41 feet (165 centimeters), weighs 66 pounds (30 kilograms), and is capable of walking at a brisk 2.5 miles per hour (4 km/h). It can run too, topping out at 7.5 miles per hour (12 km/h). In addition to walking and running (more like jogging), NEO is capable of climbing stairs.
It is battery-powered and has 2-4 hours of run time on a single charge, and yes, it can carry stuff too. It has a 44-pound (20 kilograms) carry capacity. While it operates autonomously, NEO’s vision and movement can be handled by a remote human operator if you need support. So, yeah, with NEO around you have to be sure not to do anything compromising, and also be sure you are always dressed cos you never know.
NEO has a body engineered with muscle-like anatomy (it uses tendon drive); not hydraulics. Well, did I say the age of I, Robot is upon us? Anyhoo, in a way, NEO is less mechanical, so to speak, and more human-like, meaning it is strong but yet gentle like humans. Though I cannot say the same for all humans. Ya know what am I saying…
1X said the NEO is set to be mass-produced at the company’s facility in Moss, Norway, and delivery of NEOs to paying customers as soon as next year (2025). The price of NEO is expected to be the same as “an affordable car.” We are not sure what that number is. “Affordable” is kinda subjective. Just saying…
If you are intrigued and want to learn more, you can do so over at 1x.tech. We also recommend you watch an exclusive report by S3 on YouTube to learn more about our potential overlord. Just kidding. NEO will not take over the world. Right, NEO?
