the Fiat 500 is a sweet little car but it’s 100 hp unit leaves much to be desired. lucky for the compact-loving, power-hungry bunch, there is the Abarth edition to be content with. then again, a pocket monster is not every’s cup of Earl Grey, so this is where the new 2013 Fiat 500 Turbo, a vehicle that sits comfortably between the regular Cinquecento and the top-of-the-line Fiat 500 Abarth, comes in. under the hood is a twin-intercooled 1.4-liter MultiAir turbocharged unit that’s good for 135 horsepower (100 kW) and 203 Nm (150 lb-ft) of torque, mated to a track-proven C510 five-speed manual transmission. grunt aside, the handling department gets a boost from sport-tuned suspension, steering, front-lower control arms, and high-performance brake system. setting the 500 Turbo apart from the base models are a full Abarth body kit, liftgate-mounted spoiler, gloss black headlamps, parking lamp bezels, as well as tail lamps, and huge 16-inch aluminum wheels. inside the cabin, expect to find sport seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, accented with silver stitching and Beats by Dr. Dre audio system. the Fiat 500 Turbo is expected to be available this fall with a sticker of $19,500. in the U.S., of course. check out a few but beautiful images of the Turbo and an unveiling video after the break.
