I can’t remember when Bentley Motors started to be known not only as uber luxurious, but also uber powerful. It was a personal query provoked by the recent announcement of the new Bentley Bentayga Speed Luxury SUV which the British luxury marque stake claim as the world’s fastest production SUV. How fast? Well, its “enhanced” 626 HP 6.0L W12 motor with a chassis-twisting 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque and eight-speed automatic transmission wipes the century sprint in mere 3.9 seconds, sending it on its way to a top speed of 190 mph (306 km/h!).
Both are numbers are unheard of, if not crazy, in the world of SUV. In case you are not in touch with the Bentayga, the previous iteration makes 0-62 in 4.1s and has a top speed of 187 mph (301 km/h). Despite it being VW Group-owned, Bentley Motors would like to assure you that Bentayga Speed is designed, engineered and handcrafted in Great Britain and it is the most powerful and performance-orientated Bentayga to date. 2020 Bentley Bentayga Speed is all-wheel-drive, outfitted with Electronic Differential Lock and up to eight Drive Dynamic Modes.
Key highlights include ceramic brakes, unique 22-inch 10-spoke wheels, Speed signature badging, firmer suspension tune, and an Alcantara trim cabin – the first in Bentayga. Bentley Dynamic Ride, which one of the four on-road Dynamic Modes, is the world’s first electric active roll control technology that uses a 48V system, offering instant counteractions to lateral rolling forces when cornering and ensuring maximum tire contact for improved handling.
The 2020 Bentley Bentayga Speed Luxury SUV is set to make its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March and it will go on sale later this year with a yet-to-be-disclosed sticker.
