If the $150K price tag of the new 2020 Porsche Taycan electric sports car is a little too hard to swallow for you, well, we have good news for you. There is a cheaper option coming your way and by cheaper, we do not mean the pixel-version; it is the real deal.
It is the new entry-level Taycan, called Porsche Taycan 4S. It is the third Taycan model and one that is supposedly a tad “lesser” but more affordable than the Porsche Taycan Turbo and Porsche Taycan Turbo S.
The new model will be offered in two battery sizes: a 79.2 kWh single-deck Performance battery and a 93.4 kWh two-deck Performance battery Plus found on the Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo. The former affords power output of up to 390 kW (523 HP) and a range of 407 km (253 miles), while the latter delivers up to 420 kW (563 HP) and 463 km (288 miles) range. Top speed is 250 km/h (155 mph) in both cases.
Like the Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo, it is all-wheel drive and boasts a two-speed transmission on the rear axle and it will get Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus as standard.
Distinguishing itself from its the Turbo models are the aerodynamically optimized 19-inch Taycan S Aero wheels, red-painted brake calipers, front apron with new geometry, and side sills and rear diffuser in black.
As far as EU is concerned, the 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S is available to order now and it will arrive in EU dealerships in January 2020. We can’t find the pricing for stateside (which it hasn’t open up for order yet), but we found the starting price in U.K. to be £83,367 (about US$105,000).
