If you haven’t already heard, there’s a new Razer Blade 18, whose mere existence seems to be making desktops question their career choices. I am not even kidding. This beast of a machine pairs an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor with a choice of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, 5080, or 5090 Laptop graphics, depending on your financial muscle.

Its 18-inch dual-mode display switches between UHD+ at 240 Hz and FHD+ at a retina-stressing 440 Hz, while a vapour chamber and multiple fans prevent the arrangement from becoming an expensive sandwich press. Thunderbolt 5, Wi-Fi 7, six speakers, a 5 MP IR webcam, and local AI capabilities round out the powerhouse.
But the desire for desktop-grade power wrapped in a portable form factor that does not require you to squint comes at a rather extreme price. We are talking about an investment of at least US$3,999.99. Yes. It’s a “yikes” price indeed.
