2nd Wave of K Box Officially Licensed Pacific Rim Building Sets

Not every fan of Pacific Rim appreciates the simpler K Box Pacific Rim building sets, but thankfully, this Chinese toymaker has a few more collector-worthy, S-class Jaeger sets up its sleeve. Joining the 2,951-piece flagship Crimson Typhoon are Mark-6 Jaeger Gipsy Avenger and Mark-5 Jaeger Striker Eureka. In addition, K Box is also debuting two A-class sets for Gipsy Danger and Crimson Typhoon. They’re definitely milking it here—much to the delight of Pacific Rim enthusiasts, I’m sure.

For K Box, “A Class” is a step up from “B Class,” usually packing under 2,000 pieces, while “B Class” typically includes 600-700 elements. The real holy grail is, of course, the “S Class,” which generally boasts around 3,000 pieces and stands tall at around 50 cm (20 inches or 1.6 feet) when assembled.

The K Box Pacific Rim Gipsy Avenger (V5016) set, with 2,506 pieces, recreates the 81.77-meter tall kaiju ass-kicker piloted by Jake Pentecost and Nate Lambert. Once completed, this model towers at an impressive 56 cm tall (22 inches or 1.8 feet), complete with Jaeger’s signature chain sword.

Meanwhile, the Pacific Rim Striker Eureka (V5017) packs a hefty 2,724 pieces, resulting in a finished model that measures 46 cm (18 inches or 1.5 feet) in height. True to form, Striker Eureka is equipped with its trademark twin blades and a bit of appropriate gold-finish detailing.

For the less ambitious collectors, there’s the A-class 1,742-piece Crimson Typhoon (10314) and the A-class 1,643-piece Gipsy Danger (10315). Both offer a respectable level of detail without taking over your entire display shelf. And as a bonus, each A-class set comes with a brick-built platform for display. The Crimson Typhoon in A-class stands at 35.5 cm tall (14 inches or 1.2 feet), while Gipsy Danger is slightly taller at 38 cm (15 inches or 1.25 feet).

Both new S-class Gipsy Avenger and Striker Eureka sets are priced at 299 yuan (around US$42) each. No word yet on the pricing for the A-class sets, though. You can find these sets on the Chinese e-commerce platform, Taobao.com.
