If you are in the market for a small speaker and you happen to embrace Nintendo retro culture, well, 8BitDo has just the speaker for you: the 8BitDo Retro Cube 2 Speaker – N Edition. A homage to the NES, this handy Bluetooth speaker features an oversized D-pad for controls. Under the hood, it rocks two 5W speaker drivers and packs a 2,000 mAh Li-ion battery, good for up to 30 hours of use per charge. Charging takes between 3 and 5 hours.

It isn’t just a Bluetooth speaker. It is also a true wireless speaker with 2.4G wireless connectivity in addition to Bluetooth 5.3. Plus, it has wired USB support too. The speaker comes supplied with an integrated wireless charging dock that keeps the Cube 2 powered at all times. The dock also doubles as storage for the USB-C dongle when not in use. Moreover, the dock has a built-in signal extender to ensure robust and uninterrupted 2.4GHz connectivity. And yes, it does have a built-in microphone.
The speaker measures 87.8 mm by 87.8 mm by 88.3 mm and tips the scales at 450 g, without the dock. The dock itself measures 80 × 80 × 16.4 mm and weighs 87 g. Man, the 8BitDo Retro Cube 2 Speaker – N Edition packs a lot for its size, and for the asking price of US$49.99.
Before you get all ga-ga over it, though, we should let you know that it is sold out at the time of this post. Oops.
