Razer Raptor Gaming Monitor

Alright folks. If you are in market for a gaming monitor, or just any monitor, you may want to hold out for this baby, called Raptor, from Razer. Coming in at 27-inch, Razer’s first gaming monitor is described as an esports-ready display with fast response rates, HDR support, Razer Chroma integration (but of course!), and a super cool built-in cable management. The monitor will make its appearance at this year’s CES as an “early-design-phase” model, but rest assure it is happening.

Features expected include an ultra-wide viewing angles, a custom-calibrated WQHD (2,560 x 1,440) IPS edge-to-edge panel, super narrow bezels that measure just 2.3 mm, 95 percent DCI-P3 wide color gamut, support for HDR content, pre-programmed color profiles for a variety of applications, picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture capabilities, AMD Radeon FreeSync adaptive sync technology, 1ms response time, Motion Blur reduction, and a refresh rate as high as 144 Hz.

All these packed into a super cool, “precision-crafted,” matte-black design, accompanied by a really, really wide, height adjustable and tilt-able forged aluminum base that has the said cable management, which is a series of CNC-milled channels, built into it. Speaking of which, Razer is not about let you mar the beauty with just any cable snaking down the back from the bank of I/Os; the monitor comes supplied with five Razer green performance cables. Now, that’s a sweet touch!

Since we are on the topic of I/Os, you may want to know this monitor isn’t lacking of any. It packs a HDMI port, a DisplayPort, a powered USB-C port, and a pair of USB-A 3.1 ports. Moreover, “the backplate is finished with a blend of fabric and metal to add a touch of elegance,” said Razer. Razer Chroma-powered LED strips are embedded into the monitor’s base and it is, of course, customizable via Razer Synapse 3 application to synchronize with other Razer Chroma-enabled hardware.

The Razer Raptor Gaming Monitor is slated to hit the U.S. and Canada markets later this year with an asking price of $699.99. So, folks, start saving up. This may just be the monitor you have been waiting for your whole life. OK. Maybe just my whole life cos’ I am such a sucker for design.
