This is it. Playmobil has become the unofficial go-to toy brand for affordable toys of 80s iconic vehicles. The latest to join 80s iconic vehicles from the A-Team, Ghostbusters, Scooby-Doo, and Back to the Future is K.I.T.T. – straight out from the classic 80s series, Knight Rider.
Designed based on the prototype from the original series, the Playmobil K.I.T.T. (70924) is approximately 1:17 scale. It measures 28 cm (11 inches) long which should scale up nicely with other Playmobil iconic vehicles, including the A-Team’s van.
Playmobile K.I.T.T. features a boatload of authentic features, including a printer under the dashboard for printing out mugshots, a rotating license plate, a cord with a grappling hook, pop-up headlights, and a removable roof to let you admire the detailed interior.
There are lights and sounds too, triggered by touching the hood. When activated, it will playback random quotes from the series in the original K.I.T.T. voice, and at the same time, the iconic scanner light at the front of the hood will light up, and the dashboard lights flicker.
The vehicle is, of course, Playmobile figure scaled and it has seats for them. This will allow the included Michael Knight, Devon Miles, and Bonnie Barstow figures to travel in K.I.T.T. together with a room to spare. Speaking of Devon and Bonnie, the set also includes Miles’ office furniture as well as Barstow’s computer lab. Because hey, fighting crime requires a team!
The Playmobil Knight Rider K.I.T.T. Set (70924) will arrive in the U.S. in July for US$89.99. It is already available in the U.K. for 69.99 quid.
