Mattel’s Matchbox isn’t big in JDM and so if there’s one, we need to pay attention. Speaking of which, the latest Matchbox Collectors is a Japanese classic ride, the Matchbox 1975 Mitsubishi Lancer Celeste. This particular ride may not be the first Lancer but it is the first Lancer hatchback coupe and therefore it should have a special place in any collector’s die-cast toy car garage.
Built on the ZAMAC body type with a silver chassis, the Matchbox 1975 Mitsubishi Lancer Celeste comes presented in a metallic blue paint job and features authentic graphics, including double white stripes on the hood and a white stripe with a pinstripe on the sides.
The 1/64 scale collectible has an opening hood, true grip wheels, a black interior, and super smoke-tinted windows. It comes packaged in an acrylic case with a decorative outer box.
The Matchbox 1975 Mitsubishi Lancer Celeste will launch on July 13, 2023, at 9 AM PT, for US$25 a pop.
