Want to see a super cool bike that isn’t from the future (read: will not be made)? Well, here’s one from BMW Motorrad. I am not saying that the BMW Motorrad R20 Concept that debuted at the recent Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este will definitely materialize but it sure looks grounded enough to be a real production motorcycle.
This somewhat futuristic-looking, 100% sporty street bike boasts classic BMW Motorrad styling but with modern elements. The bike is intentionally designed with a detailed front that fades off to a clean, minimal rear. It has an aluminum tank in a “hotter than pink” color; quilted black Alcantara and fine-grain leather single seat that make it a surefire head turner.
Protruding out of the black double-loop main frame made of chrome-molybdenum steel is a beast of motorcycle engines: a 2,000cc air-oil cooled Big Boxer engine that features newly developed cylinder head covers, a new belt cover, and a new oil cooler were to allow the oil pipes to be partially hidden.
It rolls on a 17×6.25 inch black disc wheel (rear) wrapped in 200/55 tire and a 17” spoke wheel (front) with 120/70 tire, and has fully adjustable Öhlins Blackline components along with a two-arm variant of the proven BMW Paralever featuring a chrome-molybdenum steel swingarm and a Paralever strut crafted from aluminum.
Handling is further bolstered by radially mounted ISR brake calipers (six pistons front, four pistons rear). Meanwhile, a 2-in-2 system with a megaphone design tailpipes helps to announce your arrival. The concept bike features an interesting lighting element, a modern LED with a 3D-printed aluminum ring, and an integrated daytime running light. An exposed driveshaft and polished and anodized aluminum components round up the design and feature list.
