Two weeks ago, an all-electric G-Class was announced by Mercedes-Benz along with the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance and the Concept Mercedes-Maybach EQS. We did not share the news with you immediately because there isn’t much to share except for Daimler is moving forward with the electric G-class.

So, yeah, the G-Wagen is going full-on electric and it is doing so while retaining much of the iconic styling of the G-class 4×4. That means the familiar round headlights, the boxy styling based on the robust ladder frame, and the rugged chassis.
The aesthetic is refreshingly futuristic and yet oh-so-familiar. I guess that is exactly the draw of this concept.

Under the hood, four electric motors close to the wheels, each individually controllable, are integrated into the newly developed front axle with independent suspension and rigid rear axle.
Like a real 4×4, the Mercedes-Benz Concept EQG’s off-road reduction can be activated via a shiftable 2-speed gearbox.

With internal combustion out of the way, the original grille necessary for cooling the engine bay is also eliminated and in place, is the default futuristic styling: an illuminated grille with 3D effect.
The illumination does not end there; it can be found all around the vehicle in the form of all-around illuminated band wraps. This ride is destined to turn heads – if the massive 22-inch polished aluminum alloy wheels haven’t already had your attention.

The Mercedes-Benz Concept EQG SUV is expected to go into production within a year, or so we heard. So, it won’t be long before it materializes. Meanwhile, you can learn more HERE.
