Casio G-Shock GW6900NASA241 NASA-themed Watch

Here’s my opinion: if a collab G-Shock timepiece with NASA isn’t in orange, or in any colorway other than black, it is not as striking or special. But for completeness’s sake, a G-Shock collector who already owns the first four NASA x G-Shock timepieces may want the new Casio G-Shock GW6900NASA241 NASA-themed Watch too.

Continuing the celebration of Casio’s 50th anniversary in watchmaking, Casio has announced the new GW6900NASA241, a limited-edition G-Shock inspired by NASA.

This fifth installment of Casio’s NASA-themed wristwatches draws inspiration from Casio’s iconic calculators, featuring text around the dial in red, yellow, and blue accents, reminiscing the buttons on the classic calculators.

While other NASA collab timepieces have fashionability in mind, the new Casio G-Shock GW6900NASA241 NASA-themed Watch is a true space geek’s watch—thanks to the presence of the equations of “gravity” and “impact”.

The equation of gravity F = [m1 m2]/r² with the word “Gravity” appears in red against the blue EL backlight when the EL backlight is activated while the E=½mv² can be found engraved on the brushed stainless steel caseback along with the word “Impact”. The presence of the equations may be subtle but very impactful, IMHO.

The NASA touches also include the requisite NASA branding on the dial face and an American flag in gray (or was it silver?) on the unusually wide keepers (aka hoops or loops) that recall the patches worn by Americans on their uniforms when representing the country.

Beyond that, the Casio G-Shock GW6900NASA241 NASA-themed Watch is pretty much the GW6900 you have known and love with technologies like shock resistance, 200M water resistance, Tough Solar Power, Multi-Band 6 Atomic Timekeeping, World Time (38 time zones/48 cities + UTC), full Auto EL backlight, 1/100-sec stopwatch (24 hours), countdown timer (24 hours), and 4 daily alarms plus 1 snooze alarm and 12/24-hr. time formats.

It all sounds good except for one thing. It is only available for contest sign-ups on gshock.com for US$170 and the contest ended on July 22. Oops. Our bad.
