Roborock Robot Lawnmowers

We have seen our fair share of robot lawnmowers, but this one from Roborock has us do a double-take. Why? Well, because the RockMow Z1 looks more like a Moon or Mars rover than an automated lawnmower. The RockMow Z1 is one of the two RockMow series lawnmowers, and one of the three new Roborock Robot Lawnmowers debuted at this year’s IFA.

Can your robot lawnmower do this?

That’s right. The brand best known for its robot vacuum cleaners (including that one with a retractable arm) is stepping outside into your yard. The RockMow family also includes the RockMow S1, while the RockNeo Q1 rounds out the trio.

The RockMow Z1 is a chunky, all-wheel-drive yard crawler with four independent in-wheel motors — one in each wheel — giving it the kind of grip you’d expect from something NASA might test in Arizona. Roborock says it can tackle slopes of up to 80% (39°), which means, unless you live on the side of a cliff, this mower will manage just fine. It isn’t just about raw power either. Thanks to Roborock’s years of messing around with robot vacuums, it has AI-powered obstacle avoidance tuned to balance dodging stuff (like your kid’s toy truck) with actually cutting grass.

The RockMow S1 is the sibling model with a slightly tamer profile but still brings the same precision controls and clever automation. Meanwhile, the RockNeo Q1 rounds things out for smaller lawns, proving Roborock isn’t just gunning for people with golf-course-sized backyards.

Design-wise, the Z1 doesn’t try to hide its high-tech guts. Its open-channel bodywork shows off the understructure, and the whole thing looks more expedition gear than lawn appliance. If the neighbors don’t think you’ve joined SpaceX testing, you’re doing it wrong.

Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but expect these robo-mowers to cost more than a decent weekend getaway. On the upside, your grass will look like it was groomed by an autonomous rover — because it basically was.
