Vivo X Fold6 Folding Smartphone
The Vivo X Fold6 unfolds into an AI-powered pocket workstation, packing four-app multitasking, a 200 MP ZEISS camera, and a huge 7,000 mAh battery.

Last year’s Vivo X Fold5 was a rugged foldable that played unusually well with Apple gadgets. One generation later, vivo decided that surviving dust, water, and Siberian weather was no longer enough. The new Vivo X Fold6 wants to unfold into an AI workstation while carrying the battery and camera hardware of a conventional flagship. This device wants to be your AI-imbued pocket PC.

At its center is an 8.02-inch AMOLED inner display with a 2,504 x 2,312 resolution, joined by a 6.51-inch 2,528 x 1,120 cover display. Both support refresh rates up to 120 Hz and a claimed peak brightness of 5,000 nits. In other words, the sun may continue trying, but vivo has prepared a response.

Power comes from the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, paired with 12 or 16 GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and between 256 GB and 1 TB of UFS 4.1 storage. It runs OriginOS 6 Fold, based on Android 16, with vivo’s Atomic Workbench handling the big-screen multitasking.

The serial layout can display up to five apps in a one-main-and-four-secondary arrangement, while Parallel Mode places four apps on screen simultaneously. Saved layouts can be launched from the home screen, saving you from rebuilding your tiny digital office every morning.

AI naturally occupies a large part of the pitch. The X Fold6 can drag content between apps to create tables, extract text, translate information, or save contact cards. An AI File Manager can rename, categorize, and search documents, while the AI Meeting Assistant records, transcribes, identifies speakers, summarizes discussions, and reportedly analyzes the mood and potential risks. Your phone may now leave a meeting knowing more about the office politics than you do.

Compared with the X Fold5, the camera system receives a considerable upgrade. The former model’s 50 MP main camera makes way for a 200 MP ZEISS main shooter with OIS, accompanied by a 50 MP ZEISS APO telephoto camera and a 50 MP ultrawide. There are also two 20 MP selfie cameras, one for each display, because buying a folding phone should not force you to choose which side gets your face.

The rear system supports up to 100x digital zoom and 8K video recording, while vivo’s BlueImage V3+ imaging chip assists with processing. An optional ZEISS G2 teleconverter extends the reach to an equivalent 200 mm, presumably for photographing performers at concerts—or neighbours several blocks away, though perhaps do not.

Battery capacity has grown from the X Fold5’s already healthy 6,000 mAh to an even healthier 7,000 mAh. The third-generation semi-solid-state battery supports 80 W wired charging, 40 W wireless charging, and reverse charging. Yes, it can still donate power to another device, provided you are feeling charitable.

Durability remains part of the package, with IPX8 and IPX9 water resistance, IP5X dust resistance, and operation at temperatures as low as -20°C (-4°F). Depending on the finish, it measures 9.4 or 9.9 mm folded, 4.4 or 4.8 mm unfolded, and weighs 228 or 235 g (8.0 or 8.3 oz). The X Fold5 was lighter, but the extra battery and camera muscle did not arrive by owl.

The X Fold6 also introduces a desktop mode for external monitors and televisions, cross-device file transfers, remote PC controls, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, USB 3.2 Gen 2, DisplayPort output, NFC, and dual-SIM 5G.

Available in Blue Hole, Salt Lake, and Polar Night finishes, the Vivo X Fold6 launched in China on June 26, 2026, and went on sale on July 1 [CH]. Prices start at 7,999 yuan [CH] (about US$1,115) for the 12 GB/256 GB model and climb to 11,299 yuan (about US$1,575) for the limited 16 GB/1 TB Collector’s Edition. International availability remains unconfirmed.
