Vivo’s latest foldable, the X Fold5, isn’t just another slab that happens to bend—it’s a finely engineered beast that folds, flexes, and somehow plays nice with your Apple gadgets. Yes, even your Apple Watch. It’s kind of like the Switzerland of foldables.

Let’s get the weight out of the way first. Depending on the materials, it tips the scales at 217g or 226g—not exactly featherweight, but considering it’s basically a tablet that folds in half and resists water, dust, and Siberian winters, that’s forgivable. We’re talking IPX8 + IPX9+ water resistance, IP5X dust resistance, and freeze resistance down to -20°C. Not your average couch-potato phone.
The hinge is upgraded, too. It’s made with FS55 ultra-high-strength steel and carbon fiber, weighs just 14.24g, and folds into a ridiculously narrow 16.6 mm. Folded, the phone is a svelte 9.2 mm. Opened? Just 4.3 mm thin (excluding the inevitable camera bump). It has out-thin the Magic V3, but it is not the thinnest; that honor remains with Oppo Find N5 to keep. Anyways, speaking of cameras…
The main camera setup reads like Zeiss’ holiday wishlist:
A 50 MP super-sensitive VCS bionic main shooter, a 50 MP super telephoto with 3x periscope and up to 100x high-res zoom, and a 50 MP ultra-wide with autofocus. Oh, and there are two front-facing 20 MP cameras, one on each screen—because symmetry matters.

Inside, it’s got the latest Snapdragon Gen 3 chip on a 4nm process, with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a whopping 1 TB of UFS 4.1 storage. Connectivity is as stacked as it gets: dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, USB 3.2, GPS—you name it.
The 8.03-inch 2K AMOLED main display hits 120 Hz, 4,500 nits peak brightness, and has full PWM dimming. It’s wrapped in 2nd-gen armor glass that laughs in the face of punctures and twists, thanks to improved nanoscale crystal density and optimized ion exchange tech.
Powering it all is a 6,000 mAh Blue Ocean battery with 80 W wired and 40 W wireless charging, plus reverse charging—yes, it can even juice your iPhone. And in a twist no one saw coming, it offers fluid interoperability with the Apple ecosystem. Contacts, AirPods, Apple Watch, even your Mac—this foldable talks to them all.
Available in clear white, green pine, and titanium black, the Vivo X Fold5 might just be the most iPhone-friendly Android phone ever. Shocking.
The new Vivo X Fold5 Smartphone has been launched in China with a starting price of 6,999 yuan [CH] (~ 977 USD).
