Moondrop Horizon Headphones

Moondrop is best known for its in-ear monitors that sound like they were tuned by someone who cries in FLAC—but now they’re back with something a little bigger. Enter the Moondrop Horizon, a full-size closed-back headphone with a 50mm dynamic driver and, surprisingly, a price tag that won’t trigger your fight-or-flight response.

Launched in late June 2025, the Horizon is Moondrop’s latest bid to democratize high-fidelity audio. At just 999 yuan [CH] (about US$135), it sits comfortably in the mid-tier range—a.k.a. where most people live when they aren’t impulse-buying $1,000 planars after watching one too many YouTube reviews at 2 a.m.

Despite its modest price, the Horizon brings serious intent. Moondrop has stuck to its trusted VDSF target curve, which translates to a neutral yet engaging sound signature—accurate enough for mixing, but still warm enough to enjoy sad indie tracks without spiraling. Early impressions say it strikes a nice balance between clarity, punch, and long-term comfort.

It’s also lightweight, ergonomically designed for hours of use, and comes with a detachable 3.5mm cable (with optional balanced cable support for the die-hards). The accessory game is strong too, with plush ear pads and a well-insulated stock cable right out of the box.

Whether you’re mastering a track, gaming, or just vibing through a lo-fi playlist, the Horizon delivers premium sound without the premium guilt. It’s also a natural step up from Moondrop’s own Void, and a nice alternative to the higher-end Venus if your budget says “maybe not today.”

So yeah—big sound, low drama, and your wallet stays mostly intact. That’s a win.
