Skeletor has never been subtle about being evil. The skull face, the staff, the general attitude toward He-Man… the clues were there. But if anyone still needs convincing, Mattel’s Masters of the Universe Origins Deluxe Laser Light Skeletor adds glowing red eyes and an illuminated right hand. Subtlety? What subtlety?
Inspired by the rare figure from the late ’80s, this Origins release gives collectors another shot at a particularly flashy version of the villain. The light-up effects are in his eyes and right hand, while the included Havoc Staff is translucent. No actual lasers, which is probably good news for everything else on your shelf.
Standing 5.5 inches (14 cm) tall, Skeletor has 16 points of articulation for plotting, threatening, and whatever pose best communicates his disappointment in his henchmen. A removable fabric cape supplies the necessary drama. Evil schemes deserve appropriate outerwear.
Mattel also includes a mini comic featuring a Skeletor story, plus window-box packaging that lets you display him without freeing him from his plastic confinement. A rare victory for the forces of good.
The Masters of the Universe Origins Deluxe Laser Light Skeletor is listed for preorder at Mattel Creations for US$33, suitable for ages six and up.
