Apple is back with round two of its most fashion-forward headphones, and yes, the Apple AirPods Max finally have a proper successor. Meet the AirPods Max 2, now powered by the H2 chip, and looking very much like the original Max that already turned sidewalks into runways. Subtle on the outside, serious upgrades on the inside.

The headline upgrade is Active Noise Cancellation, now up to 1.5 times more effective. Airplane engines, train rumble, and office chatter all get dialed down harder than before. Transparency mode also gets a polish, sounding more natural, so you stay aware without feeling like audio is being piped through a tin can.
Sound quality gets a lift, too. A new high-dynamic-range amplifier delivers cleaner output while keeping that signature Max tuning intact. Spatial Audio now places instruments with more precision, bass feels tighter, and mids and highs come across more lifelike. Plug it in via USB-C, and you unlock 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio, along with ultra-low latency. For creators, this means you can actually mix and produce in Personalized Spatial Audio with head tracking, which is a neat flex.
H2 also unlocks a long list of smart features. Adaptive Audio blends ANC and Transparency automatically. Conversation Awareness lowers playback and sharpens voices when you speak. Voice Isolation keeps calls clean. There is even Live Translation via Apple Intelligence, plus a camera remote baked into the Digital Crown so you can trigger photos or video from a distance.
Creators get studio-quality audio recording with more natural vocal texture, while gamers benefit from reduced wireless latency. Loud Sound Reduction helps protect your ears without flattening your music, and Personalized Volume quietly learns your listening habits over time. Siri interactions now respond to a simple nod or shake of your head, which feels a little sci-fi in the best way.
Color options include midnight, starlight, orange, purple, and blue. Orders open March 25, with availability shortly after. Price starts at US$549.
