This is it. The moment Apple fans have been waiting for, the new iPhone 14 has been revealed. There are two iPhone 14: the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus. The former is a 6.1-inch device while the latter is a new, larger 6.7-inch model.
Whether is it the iPhone 14 or the iPhone 14 Plus you choose, expect to find a new dual-camera system, Crash Detection (also found on the new Apple Watch Series 8), a smartphone industry-first safety service with Emergency SOS via satellite, and the best battery life on iPhone yet.
The SOS via satellite is similar to what Huawei introduced a few days earlier on its Mate 50 Series smartphones, so it is not quite a “smartphone industry-first” as claimed.
What it does is the same: it lets users in distress call for help using satellites in areas with no cellular coverage.
However, Apple’s solution appears to be more comprehensive, allowing to and from messaging as well as letting the rescue team communicate, via messages, to access the situation before they even arrive.
Moreover, users can leverage the service to send their whereabouts to their family and friends even when there is no cell signal.
Both the new 14 and 14 Plus runs on the A15 Bionic chip found on the iPhone 13, so you are probably not paying for performance. It’d still be great but just not a new processor. You do get a new imaging sensor, though (note the singular ‘a’).
It has a powerful camera system featuring a new Main camera that has a larger 12 MP sensor and a 12 MP Ultra Wide, and a front 12 MP TrueDepth camera. The Ultra Wide camera offers unique perspectives, while Photonic Engine – an enhanced image pipeline – ensures stunning images.
Other notables include an updated internal design for better thermal performance, Super Retina XDR display with OLED technology, Dolby Vision, Ceramic Shield front cover, 4K video recording at 24/25/30/60 fps, Cinematic model at up to 4K/30 fps, and slow-mo at 1080p/120 or 240 fps.
The new Apple iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will be available in midnight, blue, starlight, purple, and (PRODUCT)RED finishes. Pre-orders will start on Friday, September 09, with availability for the iPhone 14 on September 16 and the iPhone 14 Plus on October 07.
