Along with the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, there are, of course, the series range toppers: the Pro and Pro Max models. However, this year’s iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max differs from the regular 14 in more than just the camera system.
For a start, the new Apple iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone Pro Max are powered by a new 4 nm process chip, the A16 Bionic and so they are clearly of a different league in processing prowess.
And they not only has two more cameras but this time, the main camera broke the 12 MP cursed to rock a 48 MP camera – the first-ever for iPhone.
Along with the new Always-On display, there is also Crash Detection found on the new Apple Watch and the regular iPhone 14s, as well as a potentially life-saving feature, the Emergency SOS via satellite.
And oh, the Pro and Pro Max this year has an important change: gone is the notch and in its place is a cut-out that houses the 12 MP TrueDepth camera called Dynamic Island. I think the Dynamic Island is the coolest feature of the new iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max:
“The Dynamic Island enables new ways to interact with iPhone, featuring a design that blends the line between hardware and software, adapting in real time to show important alerts, notifications, and activities. With the introduction of the Dynamic Island, the TrueDepth camera has been redesigned to take up less of the display area. Without impeding content on the screen, the Dynamic Island maintains an active state to allow users easier access to controls with a simple tap-and-hold. Ongoing background activities like Maps, Music, or a timer remain visible and interactive, and third-party apps in iOS 16 that provide information like sports scores and ride-sharing with Live Activities can take advantage of the Dynamic Island.”
Here’s the Dynamic Island in action:
Like. How cool is that? I think it is super cool. As for the imaging, the new 48 MP features a quad-pixel sensor, Photonic Engine, a second-generation sensor-shift optical image stabilization and is accompanied by a 12 MP Ultra Wide, a 12 MP 2x Telephoto, and a 12 MP 3x Telephoto cameras.
Over at the front, the 12 MP TrueDepth Camera finally gets Autofocus with Focus Pixels.
Both devices have a Super Retina XDR display with OLED technology (6.1-inch on the Pro and 6.7-inch on the Pro Max). And there is the Emergency SOS via satellite and Crash Detection.
The Apple iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be available in four new finishes: deep purple, silver, gold, and space black.
Pre-orders will start on September 09 (Friday), with availability on September 16. The iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which are offered in 128, 256, 512 GB, and 1 TB storage capacities, have a starting price of US$999 and US$1,099.
