in the market for a tablet that won’t burn a hole in your wallet but yet does not sacrifice style and performance? you know what? the ARCHOS Platinum Series Android Tablets might just be what you are after. available in three sizes: 8-, 9.7- and a mega size 11.6-inch, the Platinum Series Android Tablets feature a sleek aluminum design and HD IPS displays, along with speedy multi-core processors and the goodness of Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. common features include 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 8-core GPU, 2GB of RAM, full HD 1080p video decoding, mini HDMI out and microSD card slot that supports up to 64GB. the range kicks off with the ARCHOS 80 Platinum, a 8-inch tablet featuring a 1,024 by 768 IPS multitouch display that cost just $199. joining the 10-inch class tablet market is the ARCHOS 97 Platinum HD, a 9.7-inch slate with a high-definition 2,048 x 1,536 IPS multitouch display which yields over 260 ppi – a pixel density on par with Apple’s Retina display found on the iPad but cost a less hurting $299. rounding up the Platinum range is the huge ARCHOS 116 Platinum, a 11.6-inch tablet with a wide 1,920 x 1,080 HD IPS multitouch screen and is expected to cost $349 a pop. though details of the 116 remain scant for now but more info should be available nearer to its April launch. the ARCHOS 80 and 97 are set to be available starting this month. despite their competitive price tags, all three tablets will come equipped with front and back cameras and will sport connectivity and sensors expected of today’s tablet.
