Ascent Indestructible Notebook & Pen by Plei Design

Waterproof, sweat-proof, weatherproof, mud-proof, fire-resistant, and drop resistant are things you will associate with rugged notebooks like the Acer Enduro. True enough. These are some of the things associated with this notebook. However, this notebook is not the kind of notebook you think it is. It is an actual notebook with paper in it for jotting down notes.

Folks, meet Ascent, the indestructible notebook and pen by Plei Design. In addition to the aforementioned “proofs”, it is also oil-proof, grease-proof, tear-resistant, and toddler-proof. Inspired by Earth’s magnetic field, the pen (sold separately) features a magnetic end that will not allow it to be stored within the iron coil but also ensures a secure attachment of the writing set on ferrous metal surfaces.

The secret formula to achieve such a tough notebook is a carbon fiber cover and stone paper. The combination of both allows this notebook to resist sweat, rain, mud, snow, oil, grease, and daily wear-and-tear – well, if your daily wear-and-tear also includes intentionally trying to rip the paper apart.

Despite it being this tough, page removable is still possible – thanks to an easy page removal design that allows replacement of the inner pad.

The pen is also another space-age development. The aerospace-grade aluminum pen uses Fisher Space NASA-approved refill which features a nitrogen-pressurized and sealed with a tungsten carbide ball and stainless steel point, enabling it to write in zero gravity, underwater, upside down, on wet and greasy paper, at any angle, and in temperatures ranging from -30°F to 250°F. Absolutely bonkers!

The Ascent is offered in two sizes: a pocket-friendly Pocket Notebook (10 x 7.4 cm/3.93 x 2.91 inches) and a larger Plus Notebook (15.6 x 10 cm/6.14 x 3.93 inches).

If you are down, you may secure a unit or more from Kickstarter for £26 or more (about US$33).

P.S. This product is also a reason why we stop calling laptops a notebook.
