ASUS ROG Strix Pro 7.1 Gaming Headphones

Just as we mentioned that most headphones makers conform to the norm of circular design when we wrote about Master & Dynamic’s newest ANC audio cans, we saw this: ASUS ROG Strix Pro 7.1 Gaming Headphones. Before you get all ga-ga over this headphones, you have know this isn’t a real thing, yet. It appears to be a concept gaming headphones conceived by Taiwan-based industrial designer Shao Chun Sung and Shenzhen-based designer Boge Lin.

Avid ASUS ROG users may noticed that it is actually based on the ROG Strix Wireless Gaming Headset for PC and Playstation 4. While it shares the ROG Strix’s pentagon form, the concept takes the design to the next level that couldn’t be more fitting for the ‘pro’ namesake. With the ASUS ROG Strix Pro 7.1 Gaming Headphones, Shao and Lin pushed the lighted element into the ear cup, offset to the top and integrating with the branding before overlaying it with a transparent piece of unknown material. A pleasing design that makes us want to go “shut up and take my money!”

The result is an owl’s eye that looks fearsome when worn, but when not worn and placed flat, it creates an image of an owl staring angrily. Now, if that isn’t super cool, I don’t know what is. The design is than consummated with futuristic-looking inline control with a large knob and an equally futuristic audio control center that offers a myriad of audio and visual customization possibilities. It is not clear if this is a commissioned work or mere concept by the duo.
