Xiaomi Sound, Xiaomi’s first high-end audio product, now has a follow-up and it is called Xiaomi Sound Pro. I don’t know about the sound but the new Xiaomi Sound Pro definitely looks more high-end – thanks to the new speaker grill wrapping the device and the addition of the LED lamp function.
Audio reproduction of the new Xiaomi Sound Pro is delivered omnidirectionally through a 4-inch low-frequency 40W driver, three 1.5-inch full-range 5W drivers, and three passive radiators. Because of the 1+3+3 driver setup, Xiaomi is referring to the Sound Pro as a “7-unit” high-fidelity smart speaker. All told, the speaker has a rated power of 15W + 40W woofer.
The speaker further benefits from Xiaomi’s newly developed computational audio and audio professionally tuned by HARMAN AudioEFX. Wireless audio streaming is afforded through Bluetooth 5.1 supports A2DP and there is dual-band wireless 802.11n too. For those who prefer the wired route, there is a 3.5 mm auxiliary input.
Other notables include NFC for quick sending of music to the speaker through Xiaomi Instant Play, support for voice commands, capacitive touch controls, and support for Apple AirPlay 2.
Like most good Bluetooth speakers out there, the Xiaomi Sound Pro supports the pairing of two units to create an immersive stereo sound setup.
The Xiaomi Sound Pro Bluetooth Speaker is available to buy in China for 999 yuan (approximately US$144 today).
