Xiaomi Sound Smart Speaker

Xiaomi is not only serious about its tablets; it is also serious about sound too. In addition to featuring Harman sound on its phone, it has also roped in the U.S. sound specialist to develop the sound for its first “high-end” smart speaker called Xiaomi Sound.

Xiaomi Sound Smart Speaker

Xiaomi Sound is a palm-sized Hi-Res Audio certified smart speaker that features sound tuned by Harman. It is armed with a 12W 2.25-inch driver and two passive radiators in an overhead cone-design sound guide that promised to deliver 360-degree omnidirectional sound with 90 dB of sound pressure and 70 Hz low frequency.

Other features include a built-in microphone array that supports Xiaomi voice assistant, Bluetooth 5.2, dual-band WiFi, supports A2DP, and UWB audio connection. With Ultra Wide Band, Xiaomi smartphone users (now just Mix 4), can quickly connect to the speaker and start playing back music just by bringing the phone near the device.

As with many sound smart speakers in the market, two Xiaomi Sound smart speakers can be paired together to create a stereo speaker system, and not surprisingly, it supports multi rooms setup too.

Xiaomi Sound is, for now, a China-only product. Pre-order is happening now in China with the official release date on August 20.
