ASUS ZenFone 6, ASUS take on a true edge-to-edge display without interruption has a successor, the ASUS ZenFone 7. With the ZenFone 7, the flipping camera has been carried over, but it is now a tri-camera setup.
A couple of notable changes are the 90 Hz refreshed rate AMOLED display and also the unsightly physical fingerprint sensor on the back have been relocated to the side, living alongside with the power/sleep/wake button (that is also a ‘Smart Key’ for accessing Google Assistant or customized commands).
The display is a 6.67-inch FHD+ (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) item, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and it is a SGS certified Eye Care Display.
There are two ZenFone 7s: the regular ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro. The former is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G, backed by 6/8 GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128 GB UFS 3.1 storage while the latter is powered by Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G, along with 8 GB LPDDR5 and 256 GB of UFS 3.1.
The storage on both models is expandable up to 2 TB via microSD card.
This being a flipping camera, it has just one set of triple-camera setup for both rear- and front-facing imaging. The camera is lead by a Sony IMX686 64 MP image sensor paired to a wide-angle lens, accompanied by a 12 MP 113-degree ultra wide-angle lens camera, and an 8 MP telephoto camera that offers 3x optical zoom.
The tri-camera also benefits from a 4-axis optical image stabilization and 2×1 on-chip-lens phase detection autofocus. Videoing aspect, the main camera is capable up to 8K videoing at 30 fps and 4K quality video at 30/60 fps with the secondary camera.
Like its previous model, it also packs a massive 5,000 mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 4.0 and PD charging.
While we are on the battery, it is worthy to note that the customizable charging found on the ASUS ROG Phone 3 is also found on this device. It is a good feature that will ensure battery longevity on long run.
So far no words if it will land in stateside, but it will be landing in select EU markets on September 1st. Meanwhile, ASUS ZenFone 7 is already available for pre-order in its home country, Taiwan. Prices start NT$21,990 (around US$749) and NT$27,990 (or about US$953) for the ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro, respectively.
