Audi has officially taken the wrap off the fourth model in the Sphere models, a crossover study with electric drive and Quattro called Activesphere Concept (stylized as activesphere).
The Audi Activesphere Concept is a unique vehicle that is a luxury coupe that is also a pickup. Its super cool sportback rear can turn into an open cargo bed known as “active back” at the touch of a button.
The B pillar-free design, coupled with a regular + suicide doors design affords ease of access to the spacious interior.
The vehicle measures 4.98 m long, 2.07 m wide, and 1.6 m high, and has a long wheelbase of 2.97 meters. The long wheelbase along with short overhangs – front and rear, afford the aforementioned spacious interior.
The short overhangs also provide it with off-drive essential approach and departure angles of 18.9 degrees approach angle and 28.1 degrees, respectively.
Not only do we now have a good look at this futuristic vehicle but we have more details too.
We now know that the Audi Activesphere Concept is powered by electric motors on the front and rear axles with a total output of 325 kW (436 HP) and an impressive 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) of torque.
The electric motors are kept juiced by a battery system that supports 800-volt charging technology and has a range of over 600 km (373 miles).
Other noteworthy mentions include a high ground clearance, large 22-inch wheels wrapped in 285/55 all-terrain rubbers, super narrow side mirrors specifically designed to reduce drag, and the vehicle comes with high-tech AR headset offers of the real environment and the route while also displaying 3D content and interactive elements.
A little more on the wheels… those no ordinary wheels. They are kind of dynamic with movable segments that, when used off-road, open for optimum ventilation and closed on-road for optimum aerodynamics.
