You know the technology for true wireless earbuds is finally ripe for picking when big players are slowly joining the wireless earbuds bandwagon. The last we heard was Pioneer and today, Audio-Technica also surprises us with not one, but two pairs of true wireless earbuds. The first is Audio-Technica Sound Reality ATH-CKR7TW and the second pair is one geared towards active lifestyle called Audio-Technica SonicSport True Wireless ATH-SPORT7TW.
If you know Audio-Technica, you know they are fond of spitting out technical jargon which, I am not going to lie, sometimes I find I hardly know anything. Anyways, in order not to mislead you, here are the exact words straight from the maker:
“The ATH-CKR7TW’s specially tuned 11 mm drivers feature a diamond-like carbon coated diaphragm that combines light weight with rigidity for faster response time and reduced distortion. In addition, machined brass stabilizers reduce unwanted resonances and ensure linear diaphragm movement, and a stainless steel acoustic mesh resistor provides improved high-frequency response. Driver performance is further enhanced by isolating the acoustic and electronic components from each other to allow optimum airflow from the drivers.”
Also in the recipe are “high-quality D/S converter and amplifier, aptX and AAC support, Bluetooth 5.0, and a lithium polymer battery that provides up to a cool 6 hours of continuous use, plus 9 additional hours with the charging case. Both the earbuds and the case each takes around 2 hours to charge from zero to full. Audio-Technica Sound Reality ATH-CKR7TW True Wireless In-Ear Headphones will arrive this fall for $249 (SRP).
As for the SonicSport True Wireless ATH-SPORT7TW, here are the official words:
“Audio-Technica’s True Wireless technology allows a totally wire-free design with compact ear pieces that feature ergonomic Freebit® ear fins for maximum stability and comfort even during intense workouts. Available in a choice of stylish black and gray finishes, the ATH-SPORT7TW is certified with an IPX5 sweat- and weather-resistant rating and can even be rinsed under a tap. During workouts or while walking or running, the headphones offer a switchable ambient noise hear-through function that gives wearers the choice of hearing environmental sounds for safer use outdoors or blocking them for more private listening “
Buried inside each earbud is a newly designed 5.8 mm dynamic driver, a Bluetooth 5.0 module, and a lithium polymer battery that affords 3.5 hours of use with the charging case providing an additional 14 hours of juice (with 4 charges). Additionally, it will come with four sizes of Freebit ear fins and four sizes of Comply foam eartips with SweatGuard. Audio-Technica SonicSport True Wireless ATH-SPORT7TW is slated to be available this Fall, priced at $199 (SRP).
