Back in 2009, BAPE’s designer ordered a custom Mercedes-AMG 300 GL Gullwing for BAPE Hong Kong’s 3-year Anniversary Party. It was a one-of-a-kind radical ride that only one can only drool over. Well, not anymore.
In a matter of a few hours, you will be able to acquire one. Albeit, a scale model by the way of the BAPE x Hot Wheels 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL.
Hot Wheels design team scrutinized the exclusive AMG-customized 300 SL, lined up the right Hot Wheels cast to match, and recreated the super cool, BAPE camo-covered Gullwing sports car.
The die-cast collectible features opening doors, an authentic interior, and a BAPE motif on the hood and doors, plus a BAPE vanity plate marked with the year of the iconic Japanese street style brand’s founding.
It will come in a display case featuring the Hot Wheels and BAPE branding, as well as the car’s namesake.
We have a feeling this thing will fly off the shelves because, you know, it’s Hot Wheels and it is also BAPE.
The BAPE x Hot Wheels 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL will launch on May 27, 2022, at 7 PM PT. The asking price is US$50.
