If you are a huge aviation enthusiast, then you will want to check out the new Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Patrouille de France 70th Anniversary automatic mechanical timepiece. As the watch model name suggests, this BR 03-92 is no ordinary Patrouille de France co-branded timepiece; it is a timepiece that is released to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Patrouille de France, an precision aerobatics demonstration unit of the French Air and Space Force founded in 1953.
This exclusive anniversary limited edition timepiece adopts the iconic “fuselage” of the BR 03 which is an ultra-light square case of 42 mm, crafted from high-tech ceramic. The dial is treated to a luminous shade of blue, evoking the color of the Alpha Jet of the Patrouille de France. The dial is further decorated with an insignia of the elite display team at 9 o’clock and the specific logo of its 70th anniversary at 3 o’clock. Rounding up the dial design is the colors of the French flag that circles the dial.
The super cool insignia of the Patrouille de France can be found debossed on the blue calfskin watch too. That’s not it with the Patrouille de France’s branding. In fact, I think the coolest of Patrouille de France’s presence can only be seen mostly by the owner of the watch because it is on the case back.
To celebrate the aircraft that served or that is still serving the Patrouille de France since its founding, the iconography of these aircraft, including the Thunderjet, Alphajet, Ouragan, Mystère IV, and the mythical Fouga Magister, are embossed on the back of the ceramic case.
The iconography of the aircraft is accompanied by “PATROUILLE DE FRANCE” and both the elite flying squadron’s insignia and its 70th-anniversary logo, along with the watch information and the edition number.
Oh right. The Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Patrouille de France 70th Anniversary has a limited run of just 999 pieces, each going for US$4,100. I’d say this is a must-have if you already had Bell & Ross BR 03 Type A Patrouille de France introduced last December – if you have the dough to drop, that is. The timepiece is available to pre-order now, with delivery in July 2023.
